History

Pony Racing was formally introduced in 2004 following the British Horseracing Authority's 12 month Jump Racing Review undertaken to look at the sustainability, viability and longevity of British Jump Racing.
The review identified a need to encourage a greater number of young British riding enthusiasts to consider a career as a jockey and to promote the sport to a younger and more diverse audience. Since its format inception, Pony Racing has become one of the country's fastest growing equestrian sports and has played an invaluable role in training and developing many talented young riders.
