Friends of the NRC
Friends Events:
The Friends of NRC are organising a visit to Newmarket in June. This is planned for the weekend of June8/9/10 2012 to take in an afternoon's racing on the July course on 9 June and a number of other racing related visits are also planned: the National Stud; the Horse Racing Museum; the British Racing School; a trainer's yard and the gallops . Accommodation will be arranged but participants will be responsible for getting themselves to and from Newmarket . We'd be delighted to welcome new friends and if anyone is interested in joining us, please contact Alison Harris on 01977 795450 or by e-mail at jcharris@lineone.net - As accommodation is at a premium on racing weekends it would need to be reserved in early January so please get in touch soon.
About The Friends of the Northern Racing College
The Friends of the NRC organisation was formed in 1987, principally to raise funds to help the Northern Racing College to provide training for young persons leading to a job in the racing industry. Whilst the NRC receives support from government funding agencies and from the racing industry, it also relies on additional income streams, such as the Friends of the NRC, to pay for the cost of running a residential and work-based training programme for 52 weeks of the year.
Throughout the year the Friends organise fund raising events and activities, which include the annual open day at the college, race nights, the construction of the "Wall of Fame" and more recently the "Walk of Names". The Friends have also raised in excess of £5000 from the sale of Christmas cards.
Annual membership of the Friends of the NRC is open to any individual or organisation and costs from £10 per year.
